Relics of Ancient Past

From the depths of the first booster pack of set 8, REDU, Konami unearthed new relics of the OOPArts archetype in LVAL and are giving new boost to this ancient archetype.

OOPArts are well known for their Minimum Guts OTK with the help of NO. 33 Machu Mech and a monster on your opponent's side with at least 1800 ATK. This is quite hard to set up because back then, the archetype doesn't have much search except for OOPArts Crystal Skull. Also, Minimum Guts is a spell card that we have no way of searching and thus forcing us to pray to almighty God of the Draw that we get Minimum Guts in our draw. But with the new support of LVAL, the archetype receives a different gameplay that can push them to the big leagues.

With the addition of OOPArts Nebra Disk, the deck now has a consistent hand due to its searching capability. OOPArts Nebra Disk searches for other OOPArts cards which includes OOPArts Crystal Skull that searches for other OOPArts monsters that allows you to fetch another copy of OOPArts Nebra Disk. This gives you a decent hand and a thin deck to draw your needed cards faster. Although for me, I only search OOPArts Crystal Skull via OOPArts Nebra Disk once as much as possible so I can reserve the remaining OOPArts Crystal Skulls to get OOPArts cards I need from the grave just in case I already exhausted them. Although, you need OOPArts Crystal Skull in the grave as soon as possible so OOPArts Crystal Skeleton have a target to make a Gorgonic Guardian.

Another boost this deck got in LVAL is the ability to make your opponent's monsters cower in fear with the help of 2 new Xyz monsters, namely Gorgonic Guardian and NO. 36 OOPArts Super Engine - Fork Hyuk.

These 2 new Xyz has one common effect, but it's not just a normal effect, it's a horrific effect that turns one of your opponent's monster's ATK to 0 which can be activated during either players turn. It is a quick effect that makes your opponent think twice before attacking and can also be activated during the oh so confusing damage step. Having these monsters on your side of the field can give you a big advantage since they have staying power that can cripple your opponent.

With the new releases from LVAL and a couple of trap cards, the opponent will have a hard time breaking your board.

But for those of you who wants the old school way of stealing the win via OTK, it's still viable but it is less likely that you'll be able to go with the OTK play.

Now, to explain the OTK.

In doing the OTK, the opponent must have a monster in his field with at least 1800 ATK and you, having an empty Monster Zone and have OOPArts Crystal Skeleton and OOPArts Golden Shuttle in hand and OOPArts Crystal Skull and OOPArts Nebra Disk in your graveyard. For the next sentences, assume there is a monster in your opponent's field with 1800 ATK and he has no Effect Veiler, traps and spells that can disrupt the combo.

• Special Crystal Skeleton then special Crystal Skull.
• Activate Nebra Disk effect from the graveyard.
• Normal Golden Shuttle and activate it's effect.
• Special NO. 36 Fork Hyuk and NO. 33 Machu Mach.
• Activate Fork Hyuk effect.
• Activate Machu Mach effect.
• Proceed to attack.

Also, conserve your Crystal Skeleton because he is the starting move of the combo and use the combo if you are truly sure that you can resolve it properly.

There's not much tech card and everthing in the deck is pretty much self-explanatory. If you're wondering why I didn't have Maxx C, it's because our meta doesn't have decks that special summon a lot.
